Exercise and Physical Fitness

Each day of the week contains 1,440 minutes and you only need to take 30 minutes out of that for exercise or physical activity. That leaves you with 1,410 – more than enough to do everything else that is necessary. Exercise is not simply just for helping in weight loss but it also makes us feel better about ourselves and help us to live longer and more fulfilling lives. I do not know anybody who does not aspire to achieve a longer and more fulfilling life and so I think we all should be a little enthused to make the time for physical activity.

Adults need on average 30 minutes of moderate exercise or physical activity each day or at least 5 days per week. This doesn’t mean you have to go the gym and get sweaty on a threadmil. Your 30 minutes of exercise could be a brisk walk around your neighborhood, dancing in front of the television, mowing the lawn, cycling or swimming. You probalby already love to swim or dance so that means you are already half way there – just do it for 30 minutes each day and you will be keeping yourself active enough to reduce your possible chances of a lifestyle disease while strengthening your body and increasing your overall fitness.

All you have to do to stick with it is to find an exercise that you find fun and that way you will be less likely to throw in the towel after the first couple weeks. You can get a friend to join you so you will have company, moral support and social and emotional support as well. It may also prove to be safer if you are to go cycling or jogging with a friend than to do it by yourself. If you have not been active for a while, try to start out small so that you do not overwhelm yourself too much.
